Praised by the prestigious Guitar Player and 20th Century Guitar Magazines, Tony Palkovic has performed in clubs and concert halls including the BET television network. He first started playing the trumpet in the grade school band at 9 and continued on through high school concert/marching band. At the age of 12, he became interested in the guitar which soon led to playing parties, school dances and night clubs later in his teens. He studied music and film for six months at Columbia College in Chicago before transfering to Berklee College of Music in Boston where he spent the next four years finishing with a Bachelors Degree in Composition. After graduating, he started leading his own band playing jazz-fusion in the mid- west, but eventually moved to Los Angeles which has been his home since 1983. In 1980, Palkovic released his first album "Deep Water" which made many Top 10 lists for airplay on Jazz Radio stations all over the U.S. , Canada and eventually in Europe. This led to the recording of his second album "Every Moment" following the same path in '83, "Born With a Desire" in ’85, Esoteric" in 2001 which features keyboard genius Patrick Moraz (Refugee, The Moody Blues and Yes) and Krys Mach (Level 42). | Tony has had an impressive list of world-renowned musicians that have played in his band: Jimmy Haslip (Yellowjackets), Ric Fierabracci (Chick Corea Electric Band, Dave Weckl Band and Frank Gambale), Steve Weingart (Dave Weckl Band), Doug Lunn (Terry Bozzio, Chad Wackerman and Andy Summers), Enzo Todesco (Frank Gambale, Gino Vannelli and Randy Crawford), Hans Zurmuelen (Frank Gambale, Eric Marienthal and Air Supply) and Krys Mach ( Level 42). Some of the artists that Tony has shared the concert bill with include: Richard Elliot, Jeff Lorber with Kenny G., The Average White Band and the legendary Weather Report. Tony plays in different configurations, as a guitar trio or a quartet (either with sax or keyboards, drums and bass) doing a mix of traditional jazz standards, Latin, Funk and Jazz-Rock. In Los Angeles, his current band features the extraordinary drummer Kofi Baker (son of Cream's legendary drummer, Ginger Baker). Tony Palkovic's Radio Show has been heard in the greater Los Angeles area since 1989.
